My Friend Track Lyrics
All songs © 2008 Jerry T. Daniels TURN YOUR EYES Turn your eyes, look to the skies. It all could be tonight, tonight. Are you wondering? Have you heard it before, is it true? Is He coming and will He be looking for you? Stop your lies, realize. Don’t you compromise your life. Are you wondering? Have you heard it before, is it true? Is He coming and will He be looking for you? Time waits for no man. Look to the clouds you will see the Lamb. Everything points to the Son of Man. Everything points to Him, everything points to Him. Turn your eyes, look to the skies. It all could be tonight, tonight. Turn your eyes, everything points to Him. Everything. ONE OF HIS OWN Where do we go when we don’t know? How do we stop all the pain? Who do we tell inside our shell? What can we learn here today? Open your eyes, as long as you try, He’ll meet you halfway that’s for sure. Don’t try to change. You can’t anyway. He’ll do the work that’s for sure. He wants you to be one of His own. He won’t let go. He won’t let go. Where do we stay, when do we pay? How do we start a new life? Who really cares, who really shares? What can we live with tonight? Open your eyes, as long as you try, He’ll meet you halfway that’s for sure. Don’t try to change. You can’t anyway. He’ll do the work that’s for sure. He wants you to be one of His own. He won’t let go. He won’t let go.
PASSIN’ THROUGH I’m getting’ older by the minute. Ain’t got no choice I can’t forget it. Look in the mirror I see my dad. These wrinkles sure do make me sad. But I know one thing. I know one thing. I’m just passin’ through. I’m just passin’ through. Just visitin’ this place. My eye’s are weak my hair’s all gone. My teeth are shattered, got no muscle tone. This house I’m livin’ in is temporary ‘cause of sin. I’m tellin’ all my friends I won’t be back again. They gotta know that I am goin’ home, goin’ home. I’m getting’ older by the minute. Ain’t got no choice I can’t forget it. Look in the mirror I see my dad. These wrinkles sure do make me sad. But I know one thing. I know one thing. I’m just passin’ through. I’m just passin’ through. Just visitin’ this place. My body aches so I moan and groan. But it don’t matter, this world ain’t my home. SON OF MAN He’s a story not everyone knows. A Hero that never grows old. Died hard on a tree to set people free. Will you follow the places He goes? He woke up from sleeping three days. Came out when the stone rolled away. He shines in the night, continues to fight, To say what He has to say. Son of Man, time has no meaning for You. You’ve always been and You’ll always be. Will they ever listen to You? He searches for someone to share. Looking for anyone that cares. The right one to sing the song that He brings. And carry it everywhere. His mysteries can only be known, To someone who’s willing to show, It’s more than a song, Hell help you hold on. It’s a life that few people know. Son of Man, time has no meaning for You. You’ve always been and You’ll always be. Will they ever listen to You? He has no beginning or end. Unaware people see where He’s been. His words live on through one man at a time. Knowing that someday we win. Knowing He’ll come back again. Son of Man, time has no meaning for You. You’ve always been and You’ll always be. Will they ever listen to You? Son of Man. MY FRIEND Where you going? Where you going? Never been there before. Where you going? Where are you going? I can’t ask you anymore. We never talked about the pain. We had the chance but secrets kept their name. Where you going? Where are you going? I can’t ask you anymore. I took the time. I tried to see. What was I missing? Nobody knows. Nobody knows. Nobody knows. Close is not meant to be so far away. Where you going? Where you going? Never been there before. Where you going? Where are you going? I can’t ask you anymore. Didn’t tell me what was wrong. Could I have helped you to hold on? Oh, I don’t know. Where you going my friend? I can’t ask you anymore.
HE SAID He said He’d love me when no one else would. He said He’d be there when no one else could. He said believe Me, ‘cause My words are true. And if you’ll let Me, I will show them to you. All those things I needed always stayed far away. ‘Til He reached out and touched me and I heard His voice say: He said He’d love me when no one else would. He said He’d be there when no one else could. He said believe Me, ‘cause My words are true. And if you’ll let Me, I will show them to you. It all seemed so hopeless, all the crying and pain. Then He gave me a promise. I could be born again. He said He’d love me when no one else would. He said He’d be there when no one else could. He said believe Me, ‘cause My words are true. And if you’ll let Me, I will show them to you. EVERYBODY Everybody knows You, at least that’s what they say. Everybody knows You, when troubles make them pray. I wonder if we know the King who died to give us everything? We’re not alone. Everybody’s asking. They don’t know how to call. Everybody’s lookin’, they don’t see You at all. Well I wonder if we know the King who died to give us everything? We’re not alone. Everybody’s thinking. Higher learning’s not the key. Everybody questions. It’s not about philosophy. You can know the King, He died to give you everything. You can know the King, He died to give you everything. You can know the King, He died to give you everything. You’re not alone. Everybody knows You, at least that’s what they say. Everybody knows You, at least that’s what they say. You can know the King, He died to give you everything. We’re not alone. THE RIGHT TIME Consider the lily, the birds in the air. The sparrow and his family, they don’t have a care. So why should I worry, why should I cry? He’s never early; He’s always on time. He’s never early. He is never too late. The right time is His time. It may still be today. Oh I try. I try not to question, Though my problems remain. Sometimes I can’t seem to feel Him, When I call on His name. But I keep on believing, ‘cause He’s never lied. Oh He’s never early, He’s always on time. He’s never early; He’s always on time. He’s never early. He is never too late. The right time is His time. It may still be today. Oh, He’s never early. He is never too late. The right time is His time. It may still be today. Consider the lily, the birds in the air. IN GOD WE TRUST Money don’t make you happy but it sure does calm your nerves. When I went to get a loan so I could buy a new home, They said I needed credit first. So I went down to the bank just to see what they would do. They said you don’t have collateral vegetable or animal, We can’t give money to you. And they were singing: In God we trust, everybody else must pay. Don’t ask us for the cash if you don’t want to pay interest. Compounded day by day. They just turned me down it’s clear. I can’t even get a credit card. They said you don’t have a house and you need to get a spouse. It ain’t really all that hard.
Well who do they think they’re kidding. What do they want me to do. Can’t afford to pay my bills and they keep chargin’ for my ills. I’ve got economic blues. And they were singing: In God we trust, everybody else must pay. Don’t ask us for the cash if you don’t want to pay interest. Compounded day by day. And they were singing: In God we trust, everybody else must pay. Don’t ask us for the cash if you don’t want to pay interest. Compounded day by day. I tried to get some welfare, so I could eat next week. They said you can’t get any food stamps ‘cause you don’t have no dependants.
My finances sure look bleak I spent half a day downtown. They said the facts I’ve got to face. When you sign for unemployment it’s such a disappointment, It takes six weeks in your case. And they were singing: In God we trust.
JUST CHILDREN Hunger is all I have known. Waiting in the darkness all alone. Hoping that I can be fed. Crying until I go to bed. We’re children. We’re just children. Fear and my pain keep me cold. Not many chances to grow old. Weaker and weaker I try. One last breath or I die. We’re children. We’re just children. Left on the streets in the night. Please come back, it’s not right. Bruised by the hands of a man. Crawling for help if I can. We’re children. We are just children. We are all His children. I wake up to the fear of the pain everyday. I reach out for someone but they just run away. In the darkness alone I try hard not to cry. I hold on to the hope that somebody comes by. We’re children. We are His children. We are all His children.
